COMPONENTS
|
| |
|
| |
The only way to build a premium product is to begin with premium component brands that stand behind their products. At Diamond C Trailers, we use only name brand components such as AL-KO Kober Axles, Valspar Supreme Acrylic Paint, Fulton & Bulldog Hitches and Jacks, and TrailStar Tires. If you are hauling valuable cargo, do not settle for less than the best. |

Finish: Valspar Corporation is approaching its bicentennial birthday as one the largest coatings manufacturers in the world. All Diamond C Trailers are painted with Valspar Supreme Acrylic. The trailer industry standard is alkyd based enamel paints. Acrylic paint retains its gloss for double the time period of most alkyd based paints.
Flooring: With the exception of two economy models, every Diamond C Trailer wood floor comes standard with 2" Treated Pine Flooring. This lumber is grade #2 or better. Also, we use 5/16" floor screws on all trailer models, versus 1/4" being used as the industry standard. The combination of these two features results in a sturdy, long lasting trailer floor. |

CONSTRUCTION PROCESS
|
| |
|
| |
At the beginning of the process, all of the components for each trailer are placed on individual carts. After the cart is loaded, it moves into a welder's stall. Each trailer is built by the hands of a single builder.
This method of manufacturing achieves a level of accountability that is unattainable in assembly line type manufacturing atmospheres. When the structure of the trailer is complete, it moves to our mid-plant quality control person. At this point the trailer is inspected for structural defects. |
|
|
| |
|
| |
| After the mid-plant quality check, paint preparation begins. Two steps of cleaning are performed. The first cleaning is done by hand. Any hard debris are removed from the trailer frame and corners are rounded for safety. For the second step, the trailer is moved into a phosphatizing acid wash-down bay. This process |
 |
removes any oil, grease and dirt that may have accumulated on the trailer throughout the building process. The phosphoric solution chemically bonds an iron phosphate coating to the metal to deter flash rusting and improve paint adhesion. Through this two step cleaning, we are able to create a near perfect paint surface resulting in longer lasting, better looking trailer finishes.
After cleaning and painting, the electrical work and all other finish work is completed. When the trailer reaches the exit door of the shop, it is inspected for flaws in the finish work and again for structural errors. After this inspection, the trailer is complete and ready to be shipped. |

SPECIAL FEATURES
|
| |
|
| |
Wiring: Diamond C Trailers come standard with light wiring placed in conduit. Fleetnecks and dump bed models 12CHS and 4MTL10CS come standard with a sealed modular wiring harness. Both options provide electrical systems with unprecedented protection and increased dependability. Many other trailer brands simply drape wiring from cross-member to cross-member, thus exposing wires to road debris and other damaging elements.
Bolts: For your future convenience, Diamond C Trailers uses bolts where applicable, including most jacks and rear board caps. |
|
|
| |
- The jack is usually the first thing that gets damaged on a trailer. Rather than welding them on, Diamond C Trailers bolts them on. This allows you to easily replace the jack if it were damaged. Replacing a welded jack involves the use of a torch, welding machine, and touch up paint versus simply using a wrench to replace the bolted jack.
- All wood trailer floors eventually need repair or replacing. Diamond C keeps this in mind when installing a trailer floor. To replace a floor with a bolted rear cap, all you need is a wrench and a screw gun. The replacement of a floor with a welded rear cap is much more time consuming and involves a torch, welding machine, touch up paint and burning paint and wood - it's a MESS!
Structure and Frame: In many situations, a smaller size will work for a while, until the metal begins to crack or bend. When trailer shopping, be sure to compare the frame and structural materials used. At Diamond C Trailers, when we design a trailer, we do not use the minimum of what will work, we use structural steel sizes and weights that ensure performance under a load and maximum trailer longevity. Here are some areas where you might find a considerable diffrence in the structural materials used:
- Gooseneck (Diamond C: 20,500lb. GVWR + have 12" Channel neck)
- Ramp Gate Expanded Metal (Diamond C: #9 Gauge, 3/4")
- Tounge Size
- Overall Frame Size
More Special Features:
- All trailers are equipped with proper Safety Chains. All chains have spring loaded hooks and are attached with a special bracket so no chain links are welded on. Also, the meet or exceed the GVWR of the model of trailer.
- Most Car Hauler and Utility style trailers are painted black under the fenders for a really sharp automotive appearance.
- Any trailer 80" wide or wider has overall width marker lights (fender mounted front and back).
- AL-KO Cambered Axles assure straight tracking and maximum tire life.
- Electric Brakes and break-away switch with battery on all Tandem axle trailers.
- New ST or LT tires properly rated to the GVWR of the model.
- Trailers receive grinding and smoothing where necessary with metal corners rounded.
- The standard treated wood floor is installed as one the the last processes in the finishing stages of all trailers (after paint). This insures that the tops of cross-members and metal framework are primed and this also gives the floor a professional appearance (no overspray or paint on the wood floor).
